Description
A legendary fourth generation musician, Vesta Johnson began playing fiddle in 1929, at the age of seven. She was taught by her father, mother, aunts and uncles from around Linn County, Missouri while boldly breaking the stiff gender barrier at competitions and festivals. She plays only by ear and has never learned to read music, but has an uncanny sense of timing, penchant for form, especially bowing, and an undying commitment to Missouri dance fiddling tradition
